It wasn't the website, it was the 3day forecast they post outside on the bulletin board. Yesterday (Saturday) was the hottest this year so far, I would bet. Brutal.

Allen: Reptilist brother Norm gave me a tip a year or so ago about getting rid of ants. Spraying doesn't work but a product called Amdro does if you put it around the house outside near where they are getting in the ants take it back to the nest and it kills the queen and all the ants, and they're gone. It really does work and you can get it at Lowes.

Someone else mentioned swamp cooler (evaporative cooler) not working in humidity. If it gets above 30% it won't work.

and my neighbor, a long time desert resident, and I mean 50+ years here, said the dewpoint was even more important. If I see him today I will ask, but I think he said 45 was the point at which the swamp cooler wont work.

I checked. The dewpoint is more important than humidity. Above 45 they dont work. Ours is 49 now. 111 today 101 at 7.37 pm. humidity 17% and the 2 swamp coolers are not very cold so the dewpoint is the thing.

I haven't been outside to look at the temperature yet but it's cloudy and we've been having lots and lots of lightening and thunder all morning. My poor Lab is scared to death, I hope she doesn't have a heart attack...

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh my dog is the same way with thunder
and we live close enough to the military training area where they
shoot off fake bombs but they sound real and she goes nuts when
they do training.

1:00 pm and the temp is 112 and rising.

I drove by the Death Valley mine, that count? I doubt it. :D

Anyway I was out rambling around the East Mojave last weekend and on Saturday the weather was PERFECT summer weather for a back-country drive. I left LA early sat morning and got to Baker about 9ish and headed up to Halloran Summit and hit the dirt. Wandered around the Dome most of the day and headed on top of the Mid Hills, to camp for the night. Day time temps ran about 105 to 110 but I never turned on the AC.

Since the fire we had a 360 degree view from our perch at about 5700 ft. The distance thunder heads offered a light show that I may never forget. 8-) Night temps dropped into the 70’s and at 6am the temp was 74 degrees, perfect for a good nights sleep.

Sunday a topical front moved in and the humidity shot-up and the AC went on by 8am. But still a nice drive, but I’m sure happy to have an enclosed rig with working AC.
