The desert varnish one also looks like an aerial photo of a desert lake.

This object was found in a dry wash in Arches NP.
Anyone?

Nice find!
Fossilized dinosaur egg.
I’m not positive about which specie.

Not a bad guess considering the amount of dinosaur tracks in this region, it's just not the correct one.

A kidney stone dropped from a flying Quetzalcoatlus?

This is a tough one, how about a hint?

A hint, eh? How about this - After I took this photo I dropped it on the sand and it split in two. However, there were others around and I wasn't too concerned about it.

Thanks for the hint.

It is a dung beetle ball.

Probably made from buffalo doo doo.
Only way to be certain, is to taste it.

If only the truth were as interesting.
These little balls form in washes around here when conditions are just right. The right amount of clay, sand, gravel are sometimes present and then the water comes. Somehow they start to form and get pushed and rolled along by the runoff. The one I broke didn't have anything in the center - a pebble for instance - to get it started. Not exactlly Death Valleys moving rocks, but interesting nonetheless.
I don't know of a name for them, maybe Adobe Orbs or Desert Dorodangos.

Probably just mud balls.

Good one Guz! I was thinking "Adobe (photoshop) Orbs", but yuccabalz gets my vote.
