PARIS (AFP) – A gecko under attack can famously discard its twitching tail to distract a predator. With a little luck, the chirping, wall-walking lizard will make a clean getaway.
But what happens to the tail?

Let me point out that the only way this lizard could walk a wall is if somebody gave it a boost. Like our own local Banded Gecko
(Coleonyx variegatus ssp) it is a Eublepharid. See>>> http://www.reptilesofaz.org/Lizards-Sub ... gatus.html
That family is not equipped to climb walls. Whereas there are probably 1200 species of wall climbers and dozens of genera in the family Gekkonidae, there are only about 27 spp and 5 genera in the family Eublepharidae. Leopard Geckos are very similar to Banded Geckos and, again, are not wall climbers.
See>>> http://www.jcvi.org/reptiles/families/gekkonidae.php
ADDED: The link Iggy posted is missing something. I can't find any video. The video I saw attached to this article elsewhere was quite interesting. I'll see if I can find it and bring it over here.

Jerry: You miss understood about the chirping, wall-walking lizard will make a clean getaway."
, I didn't say that, it was from the article. As far as the video goes, I didn't even see that. Hope you have luck finding the video.
Well I'm confused http://www.desertusa.com/mag98/june/pap ... gecko.html

Jerry like you said there's probably a lot of different geckos. We have them here at the house they climb up the walls all the time --- we thought they were banded geckos. Do we need to a photo of one to see what it is? Please explain.

If the lizard is lucky, they eat it. At least according to this article.Iggy wrote:PARIS (AFP) – A gecko under attack can famously discard its twitching tail to distract a predator. With a little luck, the chirping, wall-walking lizard will make a clean getaway.

Jerry I understand the tail thing. I'm confused about gecko's climbing walls.

My niece who lives in Flowermound, Texas, has the Mediterranian geckos all around her porchlight at night feeding on insects. She did not know what kind they were, but the fact that they are wall crawlers told me.

Give me a little time, I'd like to know myself. Thanks for the help and pics. I don't see them every night, but I'll look.
