I know what you mean...they usually have to be dead or unconcious for me to get a good shot.
Speaking of which, here's a couple of sparrows in my backyard. One had flown into a window and laid unconcious for about 10 minutes while it's mate watched over it.

Great bird photos. I tend to agree with both of you about my bird photos also. Here is a Mexican Grackle. The bird's eye really stands out on that black background.

This bird of prey flew into my house one evening a few months ago and is on his way to the vet.
