Are they doing the nasty or just hanging-out together?

They are suppossed to be the fastest snake in the US.
I have 1 here in the firewood pile, its red and yellow, and its very fast. And they do watch you very closely. It kept wayching me, and the second I turned my head to make sure the dog was not going near it, it took off like a rocket. What part of the lower desert are you Kathy, that has them? This is 29 palms. Years ago my neighbor a lady up the street was bitten by 1 when she suprissed it in their firewood pile.

Re: Snake ID Please
I have been there many times when going to Big River on the Ca side. So, they have them there, too? They will bite. I know of 2 people bitten. No doctor required. The one here seems timid, does not want to be caught. Good! I have no intention of trying to catch it. I know the dog would mess with it though. She *owns* the (fenced) yard now. Patrols it regularilly, every time I go out with her. I believe she could easily kill the snake, but I dont think she could catch it. She caught a dove once, but I rescued it from her, and in a few minutes it was fine. Ah the desert. Hot the next 2 months at least.
