I don't have a picture...(Sorry, I really need a camera)

These things looks like a small wasp only out at night.....but they don't sting. When they get into the house tho...they sure bug the hell out of you.

There are many species of stingless nocturnal bees. I have one species around my house which is very much a pest. It doesn't sting but it will fly right around one's face. Here is an article about these little pests; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bee

I am thinking you may be running afoul of one of the nocturnal velvet ants,http://calphotos.berkeley.edu/cgi/img_q ... 3089&one=T

Jerry, I dont know of any nocturnal stingless bees here in the states. Would be very interested in seeing what you are dealing with.

After reading some more, I guess the known stingless bees are mostly tropical. However, this little, green nocturnal buzzer is certainly a bee. I don't know what it is but I'll keep looking. One thing, it's not an ant!

Yes, the green Sweat Bee is pretty common around here and I don't have Lantana.
