Here's your tax $$$$ at work

There's probaly 30+ miles of this turtle fence on BOTH side of the road going in to the NTC, Ft Irwin.

It's only about 18 to 24 inches tall, and well built.

It even comes with a full fledged cattle guard. Though most cattle guards I've seen straddle the fence, so critters can't sneek around the corner.

Works for me! I'm sure those fences will do far more to prevent tortoise deaths than any closures of dirt roads.

WOW! That makes it tough for even a long legged tortoise to get off the hwy. eh? And a long way around for those fast ones too!

I should'nt joke though, it's really too stupid to be funny!

They did major upgrade to HWY 14 near here a couple of years ago

They ran that Tortoise fencing for about five miles next to the
widening project

In doing so, They destroyed 5 mile X 12foot wide of desert by cutting
in a dirt road to install the fence. (Not to mention the Highway itself and
major earthmoving to re-align drainage and build bridges.

So now the fence is gone the Highway is finished, the locals use the dirt road now.

So im sure there will be a percentage of blame put on the OHV community
for using the road Cal Trans was extorted into put in by Dept of Fish and Game.

Im sure the anti access community is satisfied with the new wider highway,
they can travel to their destinations of taking pictures of the destructive effects
of ORVs by using these newer asphalt paths destroying the planet.
