Quail Mountain Restoration Event

The Land Trust has been protecting tortoise habitat on the land below Quail Mountain (which we are in the process of purchasing), and restoring damage done by OHV use in the area. A few weeks ago this restoration work was destroyed by an irresponsible individual, seemingly on purpose. A photographer caught the man in the act, got his license number, and contacted the sheriff, who made an arrest.

When made aware of how much damage he had done, the man was truly sorry and he asked if he could make amends (rather than get arrested!) So on Saturday, March 20th, he and our volunteers are going to restore this tortoise habitat. The work will range from trash pickup to replanting, and all ages are invited (minors must be supervised).

Many members of the community, including Third District County Supervisor Neil Derry, have agreed to join our volunteers and help with this restoration project. Won't you join us?

Date: March 20th (Saturday)
Time: 9:00am - 3:00pm
Location: Meet at the corner of Sunset Blvd and Skyline Drive in Joshua Tree, CA

Please bring water, lunch, gloves, sunglasses (eye protection), long sleeve shirt, long pants, sunscreen, wide brim hat and hiking boots. The land trust will provide extra water.

If you can't make it out to the event, and happen to have a few extra tools the Land Trust could borrow and return, or if you'd like to donate funds, tools, gloves or other items to support the Stewardship program, please call Miz Seita at 760-366-0542. We could use shovels, buckets, loppers, work gloves, picks, and iron or sand rakes.

PLEASE RSVP - contact Miz Seita at 760-366-0542 or email"
