OH, so now Sal equates the fight to force large license plates on dirt bikes with the fight to end slavery?

LOL!

I didn't equate them--read again, pal.

Though without license plates to identify them, and head-to-toe garments to disguise them, rogue off-roaders are more likened to the KKK..they do violence to the land, "roost" those who they despise, refuse to allow anyone else's freedoms to interfere with their fun...pretty good comparison!

Yeah, Sal. I think you did. And you just compared OHV recreationists to the KKK. That really diminishes the evil that was/is the KKK.

Just gotta shake my head.

the comparison to the KKK is germain to the context of riders creating a wave of terror that is protected by the status quo.

Sal, what is the law on that? Would you have to bring charges against the trespassers? Or, if you turned the videos over to LE, can they in turn issue a citation? What if the ID was for a vehicle that is not registered in the jurisdiction of the LE? These are real questions to see if your plan has merit for further consideration.

Brew
Sal, have you found a section of law to answer my question or should we assume that your idea has no merit?

I responded to you above, Brew. It's easy for you to say the idea has no merit inasmuch as you have written on these pages that you don't consider illegal riding to be a problem.

Maybe it's not a problem in your area, but in the desert, it's a problem that is rampant. Something will be done at the legislative level, if not at the bureacratic level.

You responded but did not answer my questions:

1. Sal, what is the law on that? Would you have to bring charges against the trespassers?
2. Or, if you turned the videos over to LE, can they in turn issue a citation?
3. What if the ID was for a vehicle that is not registered in the jurisdiction of the LE?

your first question, Brew is that if you can identify the trespassers, they are guilty of violating state code and (depending on the county) county code.

As you may know, Brew, at present, there is no law that ties the vehicle to the owner. New legislation requiring large plates would also (hopefully) require that registered owners of vehicles be held responsible for all laws broken with that vehicle. Whether video supplied by a civilian would be accepted as evidence is a question I cannot answer. Presumably, if you had a number of people who would swear that such and such a plated bike was seen violating a NO TRESPASSING area, you would have a prosecutable case. Supporting photos or video couldn't but add to the evidence in my view.

Whether or not the vehicle is registered in the LE's jurisdiction wouldn't be as important as making sure that the land in question was in the LE's jurisdiction.

Hope that answers your questions, Brew.

sal I understand your desire to identify people who ride illgaly in your area. But as i have said, it would seem that you are the biggest proponent of this. I have agreeded to the idea behind big plates. ID ilegal riders. But to me this is a one way street. You find the bad guys and that is great. The enviromental folk can ID ilgeal riders and that is great as well. The OHV comminuty sees more lands closed and the big plates did nothing to stop or slow down the onslaught.

what big plates? If you want new results, try something new--you're not getting anywhere with the strategy of denial. Just a friendly observation.
