Ouch. But thank God the remains were found.
I really have no idea what happened, but for sure this incident illustrates the fact that things CAN happen. My mom and my sister in law got lost with in 1/2 a mile of the car one time. Just about gave my brother and I a heart attack. Always carry a map and compass as well as the rest of your 10 essentials. If you're out much at all, perhaps a PLB is a worthwhile investment.
