I took a call from a neighbor about another neighbor who was trying to get help removing a "nest" of rattlesnakes from their yard.
It's always a nest. haha I went over there and got to help them brush out a small mesquite and move a couple of big boulders around and then all the sudden a rattlesnake magically appeared a couple feet from where we were standing. Then as I tried to reach it through the underbrush with my tongs, it just flat disappeared! Those little guys are really good at that. I sprayed a lot of water around and saturated the rocky sandy soil to make it think about moving out from wherever it went. Then all the sudden, there it was, just a couple of feet away on the other side of where we were poking around! I caught it this time and he got a second chance at life this morning just a little ways down the hill, in Rattlesnake Canyon.
He's about 18 inches long.
