Still missing, they may have hear a tapping noise coming from one the caves, but nothing found so far. He has now been missing for 8 days and had no water with him.

The search by authorities has been suspended. The family is still looking.

Without shoes, it seems like it would be REALLY HARD to have gotten much further than where the family was when he disappeared.

No matter what, I sure hope they find him for the family's sake! It sound like a challenging area to wander around in.

I've read that his shirt had been found and that search dogs have only picked up his scent near one of the caves. I wonder if there is still any hope.
PS This is a really awful thing for his family. Please people lets not squabble here.

Re: Man Lost in Anza Borrego Badlands mud caves found dead
A body may have been discovered in an area of canyons, crevices and caves in East County where a UCSD psychology student disappeared nearly a month ago, sheriff's deputies said Sunday.

Pino's brother-in-law found the remains of the UC San Diego psychology major by lowering a video camera, loaned to the family by a private investigator, into one of the crevasses that run through dried-mud slopes and precipices in the desolate area.
Due to a high danger of cave-ins, it took mine-rescue experts several days to safely remove the body from the roughly 60-foot-deep hole, according to sheriff's officials.
An autopsy determined that Pino succumbed to asphyxiation due to the position he wound up in at the bottom of the fissure, according to the medical examiner. The time of his death was unclear.
