Mojave out at 52 degrees
It seems like I have been lurking on this site forever. This guy was behind our trailer while we were camped at Johannesburg, Ca. This was at 1 P.M. with the temp at 52 degrees. it must have been a little warmer in the sun.

Hm, that is a little cool for him. But I have seen rosies, kings and others out on cool evenings during other wise warm weather. Maybe this one wants to get a jump on the breeding season. He (or she) looks pretty lively!

Ground temperature can be significantly higher than just or two or three feet above the ground.

Oh man, the Mojave Green is my fav. So frisky and very beautiful. I have pics of one clearly killed by a human with a rock on Opal Mine Rd back in Sept. I just fail to understand some folks.
I had a great encounter with one leaving Pictograph Canyon headed towards Superior DL, all coiled up and following my every move. Their coloring is just outta sight!
