Hi,
This is not exactly desert related but lots of experienced folks here. When I am not in the Mojave I am hiking in Topanga a lot here in LA. I have been at the top of Eagle Rock dozens of times and when the sun is just right I look down a few hundred feet below right when the sun is behind me and casting a shadow below on the foilage. I see a distinct circular/spherical effect right where the shadow ends. Many people I try and show it to do not see it. Shadows being cast at diff angles? What do you all think?
Thanks, C

Re: Optical effect question
I got a similar effect when I took this picture, I was on a hill with the sun coming up behind me in the AM. My shadow was cast on a fog bank in front of me. I though I may have an hallo, or a force field around me that I can't see in normal light. Or it's an optical effect.
