Ken, I could be wrong, but that looks like a Great Basin Rattlesnake to me....Crotalus v. lutosus....Their range does not include Wonder Valley though, so perhaps you were elsewhere?

Definitely a rattler but the pic does not show enough detail. You should try to get a shot from the side for better ID. :ugeek:

The location looks like the Santa Ana Mountains of Southern California. A coastal charapal climate.

Does the suzuki have a larger desert tank option or are you stuck with the stock tank and plastic? Just wondering

So Reptile, who collects the snakes in 29? I saw yet another one this late afternoon, although not posinous, I want to know who to call if a buzzer shows up. B/C its that or kill it. Just too dangerous to let a buzzer hang around. This one was another of those little black and white jobs, on the cement by the side door to the garage, It could not get in, the seal is tight, but I am not amused. And no, I did not hurt it, but they dont need to be here.

Dont worry, they eat the mice and reduce your exposure to hanta virus.

"...what is the Hanta Virus?"

It's a potentially fatal disease usually contracted by exposure to droppings from the deer mouse. Something like sweeping out a shed or garage where deer mice have nested and breathing in the dust can do it.
I don't recall other mice being carriers but, Google hanta virus and see what comes up.
