Bruce Ogilvie, RIP

Post by Dan »

For those who know who Bruce is, he passed away on Monday from cancer. He had been fighting it for over a year, and it didn't look good about six months ago when he broke his leg, and the resulting surgery revealed he was in trouble again. Bruce was one of the pioneers of desert racing, and he set an example for many great racers that followed him. He won the Baja several times, and most recently worked for American Honda as the race team manager.

Bruce was a character, friendly with everyone. He was a bit older than I, and reading about him, when I was a teenager, was one of the reasons I started desert racing in the first place, years ago.

He is survived by his wife and two children. Bruce, his experience, and his character, will all be missed.
