Afton canyon is pretty cool. The historic Mojave Road runs through the heart of it. The Mud Hills are best experienced on a full moon night. You feel like you are on the lunar surface. Much like Afton Canyon, the Rainbow Basin north of Barstow is a geological wonderland.
