Hola amigo,
I can ask Beth to take a few shots for me, digital photography is not my 'bag' - the only camera I own and use is an antique, out-dated Canon 35mm. Haven't had any luck with digital cameras, they just are not too durable to take along 'in the field' it seems.

;)
Because of its great size,
a giant clam can spontaneously create a very large pearl,
but not an iridescent, gemlike one.

Its a real intersing tale, Pearl of Lao Tzu
and altho its appraisal as varied wildly
its worth more than few clams

Wow Roy & Beth :)
What a find !
Did you chisel them out of the layer of rock?
They would be excellent employed in the face of a fireplace
Amazing what nature can preserve.
Thanks for taking the time to post. Made my day!

It's not in Arizona, but if you're ever near Toledo, Ohio on a weekend, check out this place...

http://www.olanderpark.com/pages/Fossil.htm

I spent a day there quite a few years ago and found alot of neat little things. Like they say, finding a complete trilobite is the "ultimate goal," but there's lots of other neat shell like fossil organisms to be found there.

It says there are a couple other fossil park type places that allow public searching, but I didn't look for them - a quick google search should reveal them and they may be closer to Arizona.

It was a really fun day!

300 million year old shark fossil found in Kentucky

LEXINGTON, Ky. – A miner has found a fossil from a shark jawbone deep in a central Kentucky mine and now it is on display at the University of Kentucky.
The fossil was found in February in Webster County, Ky., where 25-year-old miner Jay Wright was working to bolt a roof 700 feet underground. The 300-million-year-old black jawbone is believed to be from a shark from the Edestus genus that once swam the seas over what is now Kentucky.
Wright said in an interview Friday with The Lexington Herald Leader that his first thought was "Gosh, what is this thing?"
Jerry Weisenfluh, associate director of the Kentucky Geological Survey in Lexington, said a fossil this large is rare. It's now on display in the lobby of UK's Mines and Minerals building.
