It's a TV show.....and shows like this use props for dramatic effect.
They also place these props in locations more favorable, in case scenes need to be filmed more than once, or from different angles/lighting conditions etc,, before something satisfactory is achieved.

Greetings:

I have decided to return to DesertUSA forums because Jim Bremner runs a quality forum absent of attacks on individuals or groups. I have always been fascinated by Landmarks of our area. I refer to them as landmarks of the Superstition Wilderness Area and area nearby by such as the Apache Trail, and north of Highway 60. I also include areas SW of Superstition Mountain into desert southeast toward Florence Junction.

Off and on I will post information I have come across on local landmarks and stories associated with them.

Thanks Wayne....I will probably be a bit slow getting back into it. I have been on DesertUSA since 2009 or 2010. I enjoy the study of landmark names, date, and source. As all you know just about every landmark has a different name and means something different to different individuals. When I have time I will browse and find some old photos taken when I worked on the Quarter Circle U Ranch in mid 50's and late 50's. I also helped out a lot on the ranch in the early 60's before the ranch was sold in 1965.

Take Care,

Tom K.

Hi Joe: Thanks...Sharon is doing quite well considering what she has been through. I am certainly proud her and I call the "Star of the Desert." I recently wrote a column in the AJNews about her struggle with cancer and her determination to defeat this dreaded disease. The ironic thing is, I always thought cancer happen to somebody else. Reality has struck home. The fight to cure cancer is everyone's battle and collectively we will defeat this dreaded disease someday God willing.

Take care Friend and I hope your doing fine. Also say hi to Carolyn and the pup.

Tom,

Give our best to Sharon. You are both in our prayers, and Carolyn has a pretty good line of communication with the big guy.

Take care,

Joe & Carolyn

Again, thank you Joe and Carolyn. We appreciate your prayers and thoughts. Sharon plans on being at the Dutch Hunter's Rendezvous come "Hell or High Water." I sit with Bucky in camp and Sharon will attend the talks. I may have to find her an escort up to the Ramada.

See you two at the Rendezvous in October.

Today I received a note about clarifying the name of Blow Saddle and Parker Pass. Blow Saddle (c.1973, source Bud Lane) and County Line Divde are the same physical land mark. I have known it as County Line Divide since first going into the mountains with dad in the late forties. The site is the boundary between Pinal (south side) and Maricopa (north side). There was a county line marker in the divide for many years. I am not certain it is still there today. The divide is about one miles from the trail head on the First Water-Charlebois Trail (Dutchman Trail) FS 104. Now Parker Pass is the new saddle or divide to the west of Transmission Gap on the old trail. This pass is about two miles from First Water Trail Head (Upper Trail Head.) The oldest landmark mentioned here is probably the First Water-Charlebois Trail. It was originally called the First Water Trail from First Water (Barkley's Camp) to Charlebois Springs. This dates back to the military use of the area in the 1870's and maybe earlier. The old U.S. Army field sketch maps of the area have may names which I will try to mention in the future. Sometime supposition has to be used to figure the names and dates out. For example the military use Sierra Supersticiones for the Salt River Mountains. I sign off, I am beginning to wander a little.
