A Camping Trip and Monsoon Storms in the ABDSP

Post by DesertWRX »

Last week after dinner I took my buggy out to Thimble Trail in Anza-Borrego Desert State park for a one night camping trip. Most of the storms were south, west and north of me. These clouds were just forming.

A storm south of me. I could faintly hear the thunder from it.

How's this for a good life! The wind is blowing from the west at this point.

Those clouds in the Chocolate Mtns. are getting bigger!

Lights on the eastern side of the Salton Sea.

Lightning over the southern end of the Santa Rosas.

Lightning within the clouds.

The wind has changed 180 degrees and is really picking up. The temp is probably about 95 degrees at this point.

The moon is peeking out from under some clouds. At the bottom of this picture is a weird fog that was rushing towards me.

The fog has hit me. The moon is trying to shine through the fog and dust.

Too much for me to handle! I packed up after a bunch of trips trudging through the wind, dust, and humidity between my site and where I parked the buggy. About a half hour later I was back home and nice and clean after a shower! It was interesting driving back on the Borrego-Salton Seaway with lightning flashing behind me.
