Very cool - I wonder how that happened because wouldn't you think Geodes are formed at high temperatures - wouldn't you think the snail shell would completely combust?

Pretty cool.

After a exhausting search I came up with the proper name for the "Geode" It is a Septarian Concretion.

Ed there is not much of a story. My Father found a new spot to dig for geodes. He had dug about twenty of them out in a hour> Inside the second one he cut open bingo there it was a snail shell. At first the shell was pink but after a few hours it took on the apperance of a recent find. He also found a geode that is black crystals inside from the same location.

My Father John dug them just outside the military base in utah called Dugway Proving Grounds Ed. Wait till you see the new geode. It has some type of plant inside it!! I will get photo's up today. Out of a hundred geodes we found two with preserved matierial from a long time ago.

Hello Kurt
Facinating about the geodes
I recall a story about a geode found near Owens Lake in California that had what appeared to be an old spark plug inside it.
