New Forum & Bradshaw Trail

Post by Desert Cruiser »

First just let me say that the new message board looks nice, with a lot more options. Thanks....

About the previous post on the Bradshaw Trail which there was two threads and now only one is there? Or maybe I just couldn't find it. Anyway, someone in one of the threads said not to go into the trail from the Rt. 78 end (near Palo Verde) because it went thru private lands, farms, etc. Just for a little clarification on that --- the road (Bradshaw trail) does go thru a few blocks of farm land -- but the road is a county road and not privately owned and is easily accessable to anyone. It is the shortest route and shouldn't be overlooked. It's only a short jaunt into Wiley's Well this way.

Hi Don,
You are right about the road to get to Bradshaw trail and Wiley
Well.I have been there many times as I live in Palo Verde. Most
people would wonder if there is a well there.Yes there is and also
a short term winter camping area. Also back in there is Coon Hollow.
I would advice anyone planning to travel that way to make sure
you have 4 wheel drive, plenty of water, and even some food just
to be prepared for anything.I would also advice you don't go in
the summer months and if you do please tell someone approx. where
you are going to be and even draw them a map if they are unfamilar
with the area.

Hi: Kathy, that's good advice and I appreciate your post. I have a ton of photos of the area and some day I'll get them up on our web site. HERE http://www.dustb-gone.com/trips/trips.html is a link to our web site trips with one of them for Red Canyon on the Bradshaw Trail.

By the way don't let the idiots at the Environments Land and Uses forum get to you, and you don't need to apologize, their a bunch of inconsiderate people over there that do nothing but argue. Hope you enjoy the site and welcome. We live in Yuma so we know about the heat and traveling in the desert, we're right around the corner!

Hi Don,
Thank you for the welcome.Yes you know all about desert
living if you are in Yuma. But what really amazies me is how
many people get out on the desert around here in the summer
and gets stuck. Some loose their lives every year.A bottle of
water,a compass, and telling someone where they were going
could have saved them. When its hot it doesn't take long to get disoriented and you can get really lost.
The Bradshaw Trail is a beautiful place.Have you seen the desert
oasis out there? Its unbelieveable that it could be there. Also have
you seen the boulder that looks like a natural dog house up one of
the washes out that way?I love our desert out here.I have walked
it for miles.I don't get to hike anymore as my hubby and son are
both handicappied now so have to be with them. But I have seen
some beautiful animals, plants, trails, and washes here. Most people
just passing through has no idea how beautiful the desert really is.
Thanks again Don Kathy
