Crazy wind hits Borrego Springs on Sunday, September 9, 2012. The wind appeared to crash straight down, boom! Then raised an enormous wall of dirt. Many long-time residents said they had never seen anything quite like it. Picture on Facebook page.

Re: Dust storm in Borrego Springs
We had it hit us in the dark. We were sitting up on our deck and noticed a large darker area east of us. There was an eerie look to it and I said that if a wind starts up to go down below. The breeze started, we started putting stuff away and got nailed in about 30 seconds by it. Interesting having our flashlight beams brown! Had crunchy grit in our mouths too. Next morning there was a layer of dust everywhere and the pool was a mess.

Re: Dust storm in Borrego Springs
That's a great photo
and nasty thing to get caught in
as so well explained above
Suppose ya all heard about the dust storm in Phoenix last year?
It was humongous! Maybe 40 miles long and mile high.
They called it a Haboob.
I guess that what they call dust storms in the Sahara
If you hadn't seen pictures it worth a search
Then there was that fire tornado
mother nature has a horde of meteorlogical tricks
g'day
