Checking out the photos & reports of current blooms in the desert makes me long for another trip to the deserts of the southwest. I live in the southeast & really miss the flora & fauna & the landscapes of our beautiful deserts. I am thinking of maybe a trip to southern Arizona around Labor Day, probably the Chiricahua Mountains & Organ Pipe. Am I not in my right mind to think of a trip to this area at this time of year? Should I plan a little later? Thanks in advance for any responses.

Re: Desert Blooms
Hi,
Usually March is the height of the bloom. You can always get lucky and higher elevations/cacti bloom later etc. but generally March is the time to shoot for.
