Located 30 miles due south of Cortez, Colorado, Mesa Verde National Park was the first national park set aside to preserve the works of people. On this mesa, the most notable and best preserved cliff dwellings in the United States are located. The park's 52,121.93 acres offers a spectacular look into the lives of the Anasazi -- ancestral Native Americans who resided in pueblos here between 600AD and 1300AD.
Our panoramic view initially looks east toward Spruce Tree House, Mesa Verde's best-preserved cliff dwelling containing 114 rooms and 8 kivas. As we turn left (north, then west), we look toward the Chapin Mesa Museum/Bookstore, then Park Headquarters. Continuing toward the left we look toward the Amphitheater, then come full-circle to the south end of the pueblo.
