April 15th – The Expanding Universe: Dark Matter and Dark Energy

PrintFriendly and PDF

Twentynine Palms, CA – In the 1990s, an amazing breakthrough was made in science – the universe is not just expanding it is accelerating! Join
Gillian Wilson, Professor at University of California Riverside, to learn
about recent discoveries and current mysteries in astronomy. Wilson will
begin by discussing the history of our universe, the laws of physics, and
key aspects of modern cosmology. Attendees will learn why the discovery of an accelerating universe is startling and significant. Wilson will also
discuss two of the biggest mysteries of astronomy: the presence of unseen
dark matter and repulsive gravity in the from of dark energy. Attendees
will learn what is known about these cosmological forces and how they
interact with our universe today as well as how their interaction has
changed through time. Don’t miss this great opportunity to learn about the cosmological mysteries of universe’s origin and evolution!
