August 2011 – FIRESTONE, Colo. – The Perseid meteor shower, named because it seems to originate in the constellation Perseus, has been observed by humans for over 2,000 years. Come witness the peak of this exciting celestial event at St. Vrain State Park!
Friday, Aug. 12 at 10 p.m. & Saturday, Aug. 13 at 10 p.m. Stargazing – Perseid Meteor Shower. The Perseid meteor shower occurs every year for about a month from the end of July through the middle of August. Witness the peak of up to 60 meteors per hour with the St. Vrain State Park naturalist. Also, learn other interesting facts about astronomy and the night sky. Meet at the amphitheater on South side of County Road 24 1/2.
