The National Park Service (NPS) announced today another opportunity for the public to weigh in on revisions to Grand Canyon National Park’s Backcountry Management Plan (BMP). Grand Canyon National Park to Open 2017 Noncommercial River Trip Permit Lottery

Grand Canyon, Ariz. –On Monday, February 1, 2016 the National Park Service will begin accepting applications for noncommercial river trip permits to raft the Colorado River through Grand Canyon National Park. The permits are for specific launch dates within calendar year 2017. A total of 472 permits will be available for 12- to 25-day river trips.

Transportation Grant from NPF

Tumacácori National Historical Park is one of 113 national parks selected to receive a 2015 field trip grant from the National Park Foundation, the official charity of America’s national parks. These funds will be used to support field trips by subsidizing transportation costs –often cited by schools as the leading barrier to getting students outside.
