The crickets have moved in.

The crickets have moved in.

cricketJust the other night I woke up when I felt something on my arm.  I felt a pinch that spurred me into flight.  I jumped out bed and turned the light on.  A cricket hopped off of my bed, onto the floor and it quickly disappeared behind my dresser. “Damn crickets,” I said.   I thought the cricket had bitten me, but a friend said it was probably one of the barbs on their legs that pricked me.  I’m still not sure if crickets bite or not.

The crickets move into homes throughout the desert areas every summer.  When the weather heats up to over a 100 F the crickets start popping out of the woodwork.  The frogs and toads too!  I haven’t noticed more spiders or ants this summer yet, but the crickets are hard to miss.
