The LA Times reported today, “President Obama designated three new national monuments in the California desert Thursday, expanding federal protection to 1.8 million acres of landscapes that have retained their natural beauty despite decades of heavy mining, cattle ranching and off-roading….Concern over the long-term health of the deceptively delicate terrain spurred Obama to designate the Mojave Trails, Sand to Snow and Castle Mountains monuments under the 1906 Antiquities Act, which authorizes presidents to create national monuments on federal land to protect ‘objects of historic and scientific interest.'”

Well we just camped at Joshua Tree & the camping is terrible. Thousands of acres & the campgrounds are very small ( except for 1)…. The sites are right along roadway, the sites are right beside everyone else- you can hear your neighbors snoring, hear their generators, their radios, guitars, singing, & drunken parties. If i wanted all that- i would have stayed in the city. I camp in the wilderness to enjoy nature, peace & quiet. Not my neighbor. Greatly disappointed in Joshua Tree Ntl Park camping.

I appreciate all public land. I’ve never had a problem with access through the BLM or Forest Service.
If it was all private land it would be a sorry place to live.

1.8 Million More Acres taken away from the State by the Feds so the BLM can run everyone off of them, like they are doing in Nevada, Oregon, Washington, Arizona, Utah, New Mexico & Texas.
