Feb 24, 2026 DesertUSA  Reports: The Park and surrounding areas got a good deal of rain last week. It’s heating up now. Predictions are for the low 90s, which should get things going real fast. The problem is that if it stays in the high 90s, it will also shorten the display. Make plans to get there soon.

Feb 15, 2026 Alexander  Reports: These were taken Saturday, February 7, off Peg Leg Rd. (S22) in Anza Borrego, north of the Borrego Valley Airport. There are flowers throughout the valley, although it is still somewhat muted/sparsely distributed.
Thank you for maintaining a wonderful website.

Feb 15, 2026 Cindy  Reports: Henderson Canyon Rd. We took them on Feb. 13, 2026. There are lots of blooms on either side of the road. Really beautiful.

Feb 13, 2026 Alexander  Reports: These were taken Saturday February 7 off Peg Leg Rd. (S22) in Anza Borrego, north of the Borrego Valley Airport. There are flowers throughout the valley although it is still somewhat muted/sparsely distributed.

Feb 6, 2026 DUSA  Reports: Lots of flowers are in Bloom in Anza-Borrego Park. These pictures were taken on February 4, 2026. There are flowers in many areas of the park and around Borrego Springs. There are also wildflowers in the Ocotillo Wells area.

The green dots on the map below show where most of the wildflowers are now as of 2/6/2026

Feb 6, 2026 Anza-Borrego Desert State Park Reports: Anza-Borrego Desert State Park has beautiful blooms. The largest concentration of blooms is along Henderson Canyon Road near Peg Leg Monument and Primitive Camp.

The lower desert dune areas and canyons such as along the Borrego Salton Seaway or S22 are starting to show large swaths of the purple Desert Sand Verbena, and a mix of small desert flowers such as the yellow desert poppy and purple Phacelia.

Remember there is beauty in the bloom! Take photos, not flowers and keep ABDSP pristine. Drone use is prohibited.

Temperatures can fluctuate. Dress in layers. Check current forecasts before you travel to the desert. Remember to carry water and drink it. Prepare yourself and your vehicle with extra supplies such as extra clothing, sunscreen, water, food, and maps. Cell service is not reliable in and around Anza-Borrego Desert State Park.

Feb 6, 2026 Paula Reports: Most pics off Henderson in Borrego.  The lilies are specifically all at Arroyo Salado.  The ocotillos all over the valley are the healthiest I’ve ever seen.

Jan 15, 2026 Bruce  Reports: Henderson Road Anza Borrego on 1/14/26

Jan 9, 2026 Winny  Reports: These photos were taken on 1/5/26 at Anza Borrego Desert State Park along Henderson Canyon Rd and Palm Canyon

Jan 04 2026 Recent extended storm periods brought several rounds of precipitation, including:

  • Local rainfall approaching or exceeding ~0.5–1.0+ inches on some recent days.

Rainfall since late 2025 has been well above average for this usually dry region, and field observers are already reporting early desert lilies, sand verbena, and other annuals emerging in washes and flats.

Wildflower Outlook

  • Conditions now support robust spring germination and growth.
  • Expect classic carpets of desert daisies, evening primrose, and striking displays along Henderson Canyon Road by mid-spring.
  • Peak bloom timing is now most likely March through April, possibly extending longer with additional moisture.

Early Bloom Notes

Visitors and local reports indicate blooms are already appearing in December and January, especially in favored microhabitats—a good early indicator of strong season potential.

Please share your wildflower pictures, including the date and location.  We will post your photos on our Wildflower Reports page, so others can learn where and when to view the spectacular displays.

Note: Spring is one of the most beautiful times of the year in the desert, but it can also be a time for caution. Rattlesnakes lie dormant during the cold fall and winter months and awaken from hibernation in the warm months of March and April. Another reason to stay on the trails. More…

When you turn on that function, you allow your camera to get closer to the subject, looking into a flower for example. Or getting up close and personal with a bug. More on desert photography.
