Elmer’s Bottle Tree Ranch Rt 66

Silhouettes and bottles create abstract art.

An old mailbox is ready for tips and donations to help maintain the Route 66 roadside attraction. I asked Elmer if it had ever been broken into. He said yeh, but whatever …

“Papa Burger” and a “gallon” of root beer listed on an old menu indicate this sign is from an A&W root beer stand. A&W Root Beer® was created in 1919 in Lodi, Calif. and is still the world's number one selling root beer.

Elmer found the homemade rake in the summer of ’59 on a camping trip with his dad
near Boron, Calif. in a “fallen-down homestead.”
