The prickly pear plant (also called nopal or nopalitos in Spanish) and the prickly pear cactus fruit (also known as tuna in Spanish) is an edible nutritious and delicious food offering vitamins, minerals and medicinal properties. Eating prickly pear is not a new idea. Nopalitos, made from young prickly pear buds, have been a Mexican and Southwestern delicacy for centuries.

Prickly Pear Nectar is a concentrated natural prickly pear pulp and juice with no sugar or preservatives added. An excellent source of Magnesium , Potassium and Chromium. These are minerals that balance our electrolytes and keep your heart safe.

There has been medical interest in the Prickly Pear plant. Some studies have shown that the pectin contained in the Prickly Pear pulp lowers levels of "bad" cholesterol while leaving "good" cholesterol levels unchanged. Another study found that the fibrous pectin in the fruit may lower diabetics' need for insulin. Both fruits and pads of the prickly pear cactus are rich in slowly absorbed soluble fibers that help keep blood sugar stable.

Prickly Nectar is made by Arizona Cactus Ranch which is located on forty square miles of desert near Green Valley in Southern Arizona, and is surrounded by Engelmann Prickly Pear Cactus. Every August and September, fruit buds from the cactus are harvested to produce a slightly sweet tasting juice that's 100% pure, concentrated prickly pear nectar with no water, and sugar or preservatives added.

1. They do not cook or soak the fruit in water.

2. They hand picked the prickly pear fruit from pristine, natural land in southern Arizona.

3. The fruit is washed and then put it in a machine that processes the fruit producing 100% prickly pear juice and pulp without water.

4. They never add sugar to our concentrated prickly pear juice and pulp product.
