Description: The plant is hairy; neither stems nor leaf stalks twining. The stem is erect to drooping/hanging from a point above. The calyx lobes are irregularly bristly with toothed margins. The corolla tube-throat is 20–24 mm.
Leaf: The round to kidney-shaped leaves are irregularly bristly with toothed margins.
Range: n Mojave Desert (Titus, Fall canyons, Death Valley region, Inyo Co.)
Habitat: Limestone crevices of canyons
Elevation: 1200–1400 m.
Flowering time: Apr–Jun
Notes: Holmgrenanthe petrophila, a dicot, is a perennial herb that is native to California and is endemic (limited) to California alone. It was included in the CNPS Inventory of Rare and Endangered Plants on list [1B.2] — rare, threatened, or endangered. I found this plant growing in crevices in the steep vertical walls in Titus Canyon, Death Valley National Park.
